v17.2 HDR palette wheels performance

PostSat May 15, 2021 1:38 am

In Resolve 17.2 HDR wheels are very very slow if I add ACES Transform OFX and wait 30-60 seconds. It looks on waveform analyzer like stuttering. Removing ACES Transform OFX doesn't help. But Lift Gamma Gain wheels are smooth as always. The same issue if I change color science to ACES. And switching it back to DaVinci YRGB doesn't help. But even if I just open default project and do not add anything ACES related, after a couple of minutes the 3rd wheel become stuttering, while the rest are smooth. Latest Windows 10, latest nvidia studio drivers. Finished about 15 projects on v17 and v17.1 using HDR palette wheels and everything was smooth until v17.2.

I have the same issue!
After switching to HDR wheels all operations became laggish. Lag between enabling/disabling node, switching clips or showing reference wipe increases up to 1 second.
Switching back to classical primary grade wheels healing this issue.

When using version 17.2, I got "brakes" when using HDR wheels. At first it works fine, but then the work slows down very much, the clips do not switch quickly and corrections take place with a delay.

Same here.

After a short time, any operation with the HDR wheels showing becomes sluggish. Not just using the wheels, pretty much anything. En/disabling any grading node, for example. With the same exact nodes, switching to another grading tool (like the regular Color Wheels) will resume operations at normal speed, eg. en/disabling the same node is way faster. There's also a very noticeable UI delay when switching to the HDR wheels from another tool.

Again, this doesn't happen right away, only after using the Color page for "a while." Once it starts though, only a DR restart will fix it (switching pages doesn't).

DR Studio, Win 10 Pro (20H2 19042.985, latest updates as of this post); X299 chpset, i7-7820X, 64GB, GTX970 "4GB" w/ "game" driver v461.72 w/ "Optimize for Compute" enabled (yeah well, try buying a graphics card lately..? :)

Not using any build-in DR color management (at least in this case). Timeline color space Rec709/G2.4.

Thanks for looking into it,
-Max

Same here, regardless of whether using a Tangent Wave or just a mouse in the HDR pallet. Using the regular wheels works perfectly. Playback is fine either way. iMacPro, Catalina, 126GB RAM, UltraStudio 4k Mini.

My iMac Pro has the same problem in V17.2. Everything is fine in normal mode but in HDR mode, the wheels are lagging and the BMD micro panel is lagging too, unusable.

I have the same problem, just bought a micro panel and it is unusable with the HDR wheels : The values are set once I stop moving the wheels (and with additional short delay !).

No problem under classic wheels menu.

config :
Micro Panel
Resolve 17.2 b11
Nvidia 1080Ti (latest Nvidia studio drivers)
PC AMD Ryzen 16 cores & 64Go Ram

My HDR wheels are now working perfectly since the new V17.2.1 update. I don't have a panel, just using them with good ol mouse.

It's better now for all wheels but the first one. Whatever wheel is in the first (left) wheel slot of HDR palette, it still become stuttering after some time, while the rest wheels are smooth.

Windows 10
Gigabyte Aorus x570 Pro
Ryzen 7 5800x
GTX 1080

The same was on my intel machine.
