Using .tif as still: alpha channel issue?

PostSat May 15, 2021 8:05 am

Hi,

I'm relatively new to DR, so please bear with me :-)

To make credits for a video, I need to import a logo in tif format. I drag it into the bin where I want it, and then from there onto the timeline, and it shows up as "Media Offline".

I don't really know what to do, as the manual says something like "just drag it into the timeline and it should work".

So what could be going wrong here?

Thanks for any input!
Nicolaas

On the media page, you dragged the tif from Media Storage into the Media Pool?
Is the filename red in the media pool or ist it white? Does the image appear in the media viewer when you click it?

In the media page, I dragged it from the Volume Browser into the bin.

The filename is white, but the image doesn't show in the media viewer- it just has this red screen saying "Media Offline".

My fault, I meant the file type symbol to the left of the file name. Is that red or white?
Is the given file path correct? Have you tried relinking?

Yep, symbol is also white and the file path is correct. I relinked, but that didn't change anything.

I have the feeling it could have something to do with the alpha channel. Could that be?

Media Offline error message usually means it can't find the file, not it can't read the file. Channels or layers should not cause this. Unless the file is corrupt, DR would at least show you something.
Anyway, you can check by converting the tif into png or psd and bringing that into DR.

Yeah, that's what confused me- but apparently it's a reading problem: converting to png did the trick!

Thank you so much for helping out!!
