I've just installed 17.2 and thought that at long last this issue had been resolved (!).
But no such luck.
I want the playhead to remain static, with the timeline moving beneath as per the Cut page (which I'm not keen on). I thought this was switched with Selection Follows Playhead, but no such luck.
Does anyone know how this can be switched on/off in the Edit page...?
