UI font looks strange and hard to read

PostSun May 16, 2021 12:40 am

I'm having an issue with Fusion Studio (17.2 build 29) and Davinci Resolve (17.2 build 11) I'm using Windows 10. The font looks cut every now and then and makes it very hard to read anything in the UI.

I tried uninstalling both software and installing them again but no dice.

Does anybody know what could be the cause of this? Also, this happens in both 1x and 2x scaling

Make sure Display Scaling is set to 100%.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Yes, I've noticed this with 17.2, and yes, my monitor scaling is correct remaining unchanged from previous versions. Dropdown menus appear unaffected but you can see the problem in the Inspector, Metadata, Effects Library, and Sound library windows.
In the pic you can see the differences between the Workspace dropdown menu and the Inspector window.

Charles (and Osvaldo, Alex and others)

Given that we've not encountered this on our systems, some additional info might help. I assume you are all on Windows systems?

Can you add some screenshots and show the panels that are affected on your system?
Can you add some information on your graphics cards and displays? Info like card type, driver version, DPI and whether these displays are set to 100% scaling would help.
Can you let us know if you're using any compatibility modes when running Resolve?

Lastly, adding an NFO file would help (see this post)

Thanks

Shrinivas, It would appear to be an incompatibility between 17.2 and the nVidia driver 461.40 that I was using. A clean install of Studio driver 462.59 has cured the problem.

I have attached a screenshot. I noticed the poor text quality after the update along the timecode on the edit page. I highlighted the area. I have windows 10 and the latest nvidia firmware 462.59. I am not sure how to do a "Clean Install" of the Nvidia driver as Charles stated? I just use the Nvidia Driver Update on the Nvidia Panel. I am using a huge 43" LG 4K Monitor. That being said, the Timeline Numbers were clearer in the last update of Resolve.

To address the Clean Install bit of your post - please get the appropriate installer from https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us (or if you already have it, launch it up). In the second install screen, select Custom > Clean Installation.

When you go through the installation of the driver, you will get to a screen that gives you a choice between Express and Custom install.
Choose Custom and click Next. Here is where you can select a clean install. These are the settings I use.
