square video for Insta or facebook

Hello,
more and more customers want short films from my material for Facebook or Instagram. In addition, they would usually like to have square videos with 1080x1080 from the 16: 9 material. Of course, the image section should not just show the center, but should be chosen appropriately. So far I have not found a way to display the videos as square films on the deliveri page.
Is it not (yet) possible or has I just not found the right settings?
Thanks for every tip.

My choice would be to show the entire frame, leaving black around it.

Pan & Scan was a bad idea when it was first invented for square TV's. It's still a bad idea for sites that oddly use the anachronistic square aspect.

For both Instagram and Facebook you can load 16:9 format. They may want the square format because they know no better and are just following the herd.

This is a standard request. These days we deliver everything in the OAR and a variety of social aspect ratios.

If you're on a more recent version of Resolve you can copy and paste your original timeline and modify it to 1080x1080. Then go through all the shots and pan as needed. When finished export as 1080x1080.

If you flip over to the Cut page, at the top, to the left of the colorful "Bypass Color Grades/Fusion Effects" button, there's a dropdown that'll reset your timeline to one of a very limited number of common social media aspects. Square happens to be one of them.

Thank you for all your hints.
I can't help it, some customers really want square videos. And who pays is right.

BTW for Instagram which can "only upload from a phone" you can upload on a computer. On your web browser go to the developer menu and you can select to view as a phone or tablet.... Then the upload buttons miraculously appear !!!!
Sorry if it was already obvious to everyone but I only recently discovered as I don;t normally upload to Instagram nor directly to Facebook
