DaVinci Resolve 17.2 crashed multiple times while exporting

Hello
I have just started with Resolve and upgraded to 17.2. Yesterday I tried to encode a screen-captured educational video lecture of mine in DaVinci resolve after editing and it crashed around 4 times.
The original video was mp4 with a 60fps frame rate. I added some high res CC-licensed photos to the main video on a separate track and at one of the photos, around 65% of the encoding process, the program became too slow and crashed multiple times. In the end, I was able to complete the job.
The export settings had mp4 as output container with H.265 as codec. The frame rate was kept at 60.
The project and project files, all were stored on an external hard drive.
My PC runs on updated x64 Win10. There is 16GB of RAM and the processor is Ryzen 5 2600+.
The end goal for me was to obtain a high-resolution video to upload on YouTube.
Could someone please help me with this?
Thank you in advance.
