Fairlight - timeline playback issue

I dropped in a bunch of 44.1kHz 16 bit wav files ripped from old CDs (90's for those of you old enough to remember, lol) that a client wanted me to do some work on.

Brought each album worth of files into their own bins, populated the timeline with the tracks, one timeline per album. Project Fairlight settings are 44.1kHz, flexbus. One stereo track and one stereo output bus only.

Clicked play, and the playhead doesn't move. Play shows as active on the FAE and GUI. Scrub, Jog do not move the playhead or create any sound either.

I tried rebooting Resolve and my audio I/O, no change. Inspected the files with Snapper, they are generic vanilla wav files. They are named with the track number at the beginning, and a period, I'll go back and check if that may be causing the problem.

At any rate, or at 44.1 in this case ( ), playback is not working in any way, shape or form.

The transport will not engage if valid clock is not present.

Is the transport engaged at other rates?
No issue with the source media within Timelines at other rates?

Digging deeper, the Finder (OS X Catalina) plays back the files fine. As does WaveAgent. And Snapper.

However, when I drop them into Nuendo, the playback head moves, but no sound comes out, no signal shows up on the meters. Similar to Resolve.

When I drop them into Izotope Rx8, they won't play back there either.

Which leads me to believe that there may be something with the files that the more modern/advanced DAWs are picking up on (and choking on), while the simpler/older "just play the file" apps work fine. I don't see anything unusual or unexpected in the header or metadata, any other ideas what might be the problem?

Resolve/Fairlight is absolved of responsibility for this issue - for now.

Cheers,
Thor

Is there a sync indicator on the GUI or FAE?

Fairlight menu > Audio Interface Settings

Does this apply to CoreAudio interfaces? I don't see that anywhere in the system or menus...

Applicable to the Fairlight Audio Interface and Accelerator.

If the Core Audio driver is enabled, the "Audio Interface Settings" menu item will be not exposed.

Ok. So how can I check sync in that case? My I/O shows as synced on it's GUI (Metric Halo ULN-8).

Thanks Andy,

I got it working now. It appears that either Core Audio or the I/O was wedged somehow, I rebooted the I/O, the computer, and Resolve and now everything is playing back correctly.

Good to hear you are rockin out to your sweet 90's tunes. I hope Spin Doctors are in the mix.
