I have a problem with a sound issue in DR17 STUDIO... I cannot get the sound tracks to be audible once I bring any track into the timeline. They are mute, though they exist in the sound track area and the VU levels are clearly visible in Fairlight.

Scenario:
I imported files taken from my iPhone XR. The sound and video play just fine in Windows Media player and other video players. The audio is still there and perfect when I import the files into DR17 and scroll through on the Cut Page before importing anything to the timeline....

...HOWEVER THE MOMENT I BRING ANY CLIP INTO THE TIMELINE THE AUDIO TRACKS BECOME MUST AND TOTALLY INAUDIBLE, YET THE TRACK IS THERE, SHOWS UP PERFECTLY IN FAIRLIGHT AND THE VU METERS BOUNCE AROUND NORMALLY. HOWEVER THERE IS NO AUDIO PLAYBACK AND I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND HOW TO FIX IT!!!!

Help ASAP please. I'm working on a project and am coming up on deadline and am dead in the water without it.

Thank You Ian. That did it. So confusing because the audio played fine initially in Cut but as soon as ONE CLIP was introduced to the timeline ALL the tracks went mute and wouldn't even play again when scrolling in Cut.

Interestingly, it hadn't done that with other video files from the same phone. It's not consistent and I'm not sure how it got boogered up.

I’m glad my video helped you out. I made that because that problem does crop up fairly frequently!

Actually it only solved the issue temporarily. I had to import some iPhone footage from today and I didn't even get the audio to sound before bringing anything into the timeline. I can't get it to play through the computer's speakers no matter what setting I use though I can get the audio to play in my monitors through my USB recording interface (MOTU M4).

Interestingly, when I did the pref change the first time it didn't recognize my MOTU but played through it anyway. But when I opened the program a second time it saw it and I was at least able to monitor the audio. However it no longer recognizes my computer speakers, at least with my iPhone content.
