Cropping clips like in Apple Compressor

I'm new to DaVinci Resolve and I'd like to know if it is possible to change the aspect ratio of your clips by cropping, like in Compressor 4? Most of the time I have 1920x1080 footage that I need to crop to 1440x1080. Sometimes it is not a center crop but more cropping on the left side than on the right side or vice versa.
To make it clear - I'm not speaking of letterboxing. The source has got a 16:9 aspect ratio and I want to crop pixels at the sides so that the output is 4:3.
this is how cropping looks like in Apple Compressor 4:

You can move the cropping area.

Probably the simplest way is to create a 1440 x 1080 timeline, then use Position to get the framing you want.

What is Position, how do I apply it? I tried to find it in the reference manual, but with 2558 hits, this didn't help...

Click on the clip, then open the Inspector on the top right of the edit page. Adjust to X position as needed.
