Here's the list of encountered issues, ordered by severity.
I'm posting this in the hopes this potentially awesome software gets some fixes for it in the coming versions.
In general, there seem to be a lot of small details that show me that this software hasn't reached maturity yet, or there is a too big tolerance on bugs in the released software versions. All these little things take a lot of time while editing.
My laptop specs (not the best, not the worst):
System OS Windows 10 20H2 19042.985
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz
Installed RAM 32,0 GB
Graphics card nvidia geforce gtx 1060 6gb (driver version during usage: Nvidia studio driver 462.31)
Hard disks ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB M.2 SSD; Crucial MX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA SSD
- Render in place on a 'heavy' fusion clip gives some black frames in the beginning of the clip. Sometimes more, sometimes just one black frame.
Not resolved, just didn't use render in place on that clip. A normal render renders the clip just fine. - Audio glitches/cracks on export, none when only exporting audio. Solved by selecting all audio and caching audio
- At some point I replaced the music in my project in media pool from a preview version to the purchased version. Suddenly one of the four music tracks had the right audio channel playing +- 10 frames before the left audio channel. Clearing all caches and restarting DR fixed this issue.
- Planartracker does nothing on a new fusion clip on an existing project. Even when it has worked on many clips in that project.
Going back, disabling all the coloring nodes on the clip in color tab, the tracker works again. I suspect the object removal node fx in color tab. - After hybernating windows 10, davinci resolve almost always hangs
- Once DR starts background caching a fusion clip it keeps caching it even though normal playback is started (choppy!) or the render cache is set to 'none'. No other option than to wait for it to finish...
- unchecking background caching causes davinci resolve to hang if it's currently caching a long clip
- Send error reports can never reach server, tested on different networks
- When changing the timeline location and resolve is still calcuating the frame you were at before, it takes a while for it to show the frame you go to, or even many times the timeline location jumps back to where you were (and shows the frame from the other timeline location)
- Align to grid always defaults to 'not align to grid' in fusion tab
- A preview of the font type in the fonts dropdown list would be great!
- While moving node in fusion, you can use the scroll wheel to scroll up/down the 'field', but when you continue moving the nodes, it doesn't take into account the scrolled distance.
- Changing properties of multiple same nodes in fusion (eg. changing font for many existing text+ nodes) is cumbersome. You have to select each one of them and change the font, whereas it would be nice when you select multiple that for all the selected nodes the font is changed.
- When attaching 3 monitors, DR gets confused between instances which monitor is which.
- When enabling dual screen, sometimes DR places the 2nd screen over the 1st screen. Only way to get out of this is to go to a tab that doesn't support dual screen (cut / deliver) and select another primary monitor. (As from those tabs you cannot disable dual screen) - Similarly, when disconnecting a 2nd monitor
- In fusion tab, right click 'Save image' refused to work without any message. Restarting solved this.
- Rename shortcuts, sometimes F2, sometimes none while F2 isn't doing anything (for instance to rename a color node in color tab. F2 should be set default here instead of manually changing this)
- Inconsistent mouse zoom functionality, in edit & color page ctrl+mousewheel scrolls, in fusion zooms
- In color tab: Add clip into group, undo doesn't undo add into group
- When creating new color grade version, select all text of 'Version X' so we can just type a new name instead of having to select the text first.
- In fusion Text+ node, it is not clear for 'V anchor' and 'H anchor' which is selected. It would be nice if the selected options stays lighted up
