Some Videos are MOS

Hi there,

I filmed an interview yesterday and something strange happened: some of the videos were MOS. I did end up synchronizing them myself, but I was wondering what happened to them? It's not with all clips, just a couple. The settings were the same all the time. Is it a bug or did I do something wrong?

Thanks for the answers in advance,

Dawid

Nothing special. Just the pocket and an external sound recorder. The PC is custom built, Win 10. It's only 5 takes in total that just don't have sound, the rest do. I didn't change any settings. Those clips were shot after the takes that had sound. There is no way anything changed in the settings, because after the MOS take the recording had sound again. Just pressing the record/stop record button to be more precise.
Thanks in advance for the non ironic and helpful answer :)

To get to the bottom of your problem, we need more details. That's the reason for the irony.
Otherwise you'd only get the advice to check your camera and cables, then reshoot.

Did you record BRAW or ProRes?
What do the metadata say about those files?
Can you hear sound if you just use a player instead of DR?

So here's an update:
It's recorded in B-Raw and when I play it outside of the editor it actually has sound. However when I drag it into the timeline, it doesn't have any audio. This confuses me even more, because the original B-RAW recording has the audio. And every other video works as intended.
The metadata is just like with all other videos: Linear PCM 48K Hz Stereo Audio.

But I think in his case, he shouldn't say the video is MOS, if he did shoot with sound. MOS is meant signify to the editors the said footage is shot without sound, so they or the assistants won't waste time searching for a sound that does not exist.

That's right, the use in this context is a bit misleading.

@Dawid: Do the meters move if you try to play it in the preview window of the Media page?

Go to the Media page David. From the bin, play one of the problem clips.

Sound?

And then, please post a short sample for download on a cloud service if you can.

Nope. When dragged inside the program, there are no waves.

OK.

Still on the Media page, in the upper left Media Storage panel, navigate to the folder with the original clips. Sound now?

Yes all the clips have sound when viewed from the media browser. So it must be either a bug or a mistake I made. But I dragged all media in the same way. Didn't change any settings. It's just the select few that have no audio waves.
