Resole 17.2.1 Optimized Media

PostThu Jun 03, 2021 5:43 am

Hello
I can't find anymore the Optimized Media in the column Layout of the MediaPool nor in the smart Bin menus ....
Am I the only one ?
Or those menu have been move somewhere else, may be ?
Thanks in advance

They don’t exist any more in 17, try Proxies instead.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

You can generate Optimized media and can use Optimized media but you can Delete the Optimized media. It is a bizarre change in which Optimization, a vital part of 16, was simply tossed away. So much simpler than Proxy! Once and done!

Although the Resolve PDF has stayed at about 3,500 pages--the content is very different. All the setup information that had pictures -- now has no pictures. By the way, the TOC has no entry for Optimization. You have to search for it.

Moreover, why the inclusion of the HDR items which you can't really use unless you buy Studio? For example, unless you know lots about HDR, you have no idea what STD100 is. It's painfully, obvious that despite the massive amount of work done to create 17--the non-studio version should have no HDR settings (etc) and its own PDF. And buying Studio should get you a version of the software that implements the extra functions and has its own PDF.

Right now 17 is a perfect example of Death By Tons Of New features.

Remember Microsoft and Word.

Yes I can do that.

Any reason that "They don’t exist any more in 17" as a criteria for Smartbin but Still exist for Generating & Use ?

I agree
May be there a new idea that Optimtized Media aren't Project dependent
Same file in 2 different project benefit from the optimized media of the other one.
Just an idea

Yes, that's the reason. They are not listed any more, but you can still generate and use them.
There seems to be a big with subclips, though.
