Recently there's a project my client requires the graded footage be delivered in ProRes with Alpha.
Which I have to convert DNXHR to ProRes with Media encoder, God knows why Resolve doesn't support ProRes export on PC
The first thing is data levels
There are 3 data level options
When I rendered in DNXHR 444 10bit with MXF and Quicktime as wrapper without Alpha
Premiere mxf Resolve mxf Premiere mov Resolve mov
Auto washed out √ washed out √
Full √ √ √ crushed black&white
Video washed out √ washed out washed out
So as long as my workflow doesn't end with Resolve, only mxf with full data level works consistently throughout different software.
Here's my problem. If I export a mxf with alpha, it only works in Resolve, Premiere or After effect can't even read premultipled mxf file, and if I set the alpha mode to Straight, PR or AE can't recognize the alpha channel.
From my past experience, ProRes 4444 works really well with alpha channel, and I don't want to use image sequence as intermediate, then how do I deliver a ProRes with Alpha on a PC, or I have to find a Mac export ProRes directly in Resolve?
