Render freezing

I have several projects that I'm working on, quick VHS transfers to cleanup and render out. I load one, do the thing, and render it out. And wait... Load the next project, do the thing, and render it out. And wait... Load the next project, do the things, and render it out. And wait...

It's really too bad the Render Queue doesn't persist between projects. Shouldn't that really be a RESOLVE thing, and not a PROJECT thing? Otherwise, I could queue up all my projects, and then let it render overnight.

Except that I've been getting weird render freezes, that even the Cancel Render doesn't work. Clicking the X brings up a dialog where the only viable option is Cancel Render and Exit, NOT Cancel Render. So, a restart is required. Lots of little things that don't seem well thought out.

EDIT: and it just keeps failing to finish rendering...

To me it makes more sense for the Render Queue to be project specific.

Is there any reason you can't do all the tapes in one project, just different timelines? Then render several at the end of the work day?

Sure, I can change the way I work, but that would mean 42 timelines. Given the frequency with which Resolve fails to complete the render on these so far, I'm not sure having a queue larger than one would be a benefit though.

Have you posted the log files to see if BM can solve the freezing issue? Until that is sorted out it likely wouldn't help even if you COULD cue up multiple projects instead of multiple timelines. Any project rendering that froze while you were sleeping would stop the rest from proceeding anyway.

I haven't reported the issue yet. I have a couple of outstanding tickets with them already, another just yesterday. I'm still gathering information, but will log it soon. The error is pretty nondescript.

I just don't understand why rendering video is so difficult, and why SW companies can't provide HELPFUL error messages when things go wrong. Plus, it shouldn't lock up your app, but should log it and move on to the next one. We can land on Mars, but we can't reliably render video. Everyone must use the same libraries, since it seems nobody can do it reliably. Nobody.
