I'll soon be getting another monitor but in the meantime,

Is there a way to have a Davinci project appear within another instance of itself on the screen in Windows 10?

The method to my madness: Being able to have the preview of my work open on say the left hand of the screen whilst I work on the project on the right in the color tab

Basically, Dual Screen using one monitor. If not possible using Dual Screen then a workaround if possible?

Unfortunately, DR doesn't lend itself to detaching sections or rearranging the way Premiere can. Although, I don't even recall if one was able to better arrange the preview window there either.

I see that I can have the preview on the top completely above but I believe It'd be more productive, for me at least, having them side by side.

So, Dual Screen on two monitors. Which is normal.

If you have Studio and you're only monitoring content, you can use the Clean Feed feature to get image preview on the second screen.

But as you specifically mention color work, you're probably better off investing in a Decklink to feed that second monitor. This eliminates variables from the signal path to help ensure an accurate image on screen, which is important for color work.

Still a valid question regardless. Yes, I'll be getting another one soon. How soon? I don't know.

To have dual monitors using one? Not that I'm aware.

I mean, you can't get stereo music with one speaker.

My BenQ 4k Monitor includes a utility 'Display Pilot'. I've never really used it but I seem to remember it allowed you to split a 4K display into eg 4xHD areas. Not sure if it can be used for other manufacturers' monitors or if there are alternative apps. Maybe it requires support in the monitor itself?

EDIT: Just checked - the function is called 'display partitioning', and it looks like it would also work on my 2nd non-BenQ monitor

The basic principle is that you install a "virtual monitor", which your PC sees just as any other hardware monitor hooked up by cable in the display settings, but you can access it via your browser in a fast HTML5 environment. Mine was actually fast enough to use as a real-time full-screen Clean feed.

Plus, you can access it via LAN or even across the internet if you know how to set that up safely.

So how's your BenQ? Enjoying it? Which one and what size you've got?
That's one of the items I was considering.

My logic revolves around whether I get that as a second monitor to my 2012 55" LG HD TV I'm using as a main monitor
OR
get an LG CX (or some other 'decent' set) to replace my present TV as a monitor. Thereafter, I'd either have to find a solution or put my 17" laptop to use as an extended monitor.

Of course, having never owned a 4k, maybe I'll find out that the extra real estate erases away my concerns? No clue.

Kinda sounds like Remote Desktop in Windows. Used to make use of it way back. Don't recall how well the quality of video translated. But I remember being able to do so not just from another pc in the house but as well from a tablet using a different methodology.
