Finding Synced Video from Audio Tracks, Not Audio from Video

PostSat Jun 05, 2021 5:16 pm

I saw in the DaVinci manual a method (below) for finding your synced AUDIO tracks from Video tracks, but is there a way to do the reverse and find corresponding synced VIDEO clips from the already-laid-down synced AUDIO tracks?

I basically laid down a rough cut of audio tracks bc I had a computer-generated transcript of the interview that corresponds to the AUDIO timecode, but NOT the Sony a1 timecode (no jammed TC). So, it was easy to find the relevant audio clips in Davinci and piece together a rough cut of audio.

Also, I tried to "update timecode from audio" but that didn't do anything in terms of updating the synced video timecode. If someone might know why, please LMK.

Now, I'm wondering if there's an automatic way to "Find Synced VIDEO" clip in the timeline. Otherwise, I'll need to search through to find the corresponding marks.

Here's the relevant section from the Resolve manual....

Finding Synced Audio
If you’ve synced dual-system audio and video clips together in DaVinci Resolve, you can find the audio clip that a video clip has been synced to using the following procedure.
To find the audio clip that a video clip has been synced to:
– Show the Media Pool in List view, and reference file name in the Synced Audio column.
– Right-click a video clip that’s been synced to audio, and choose “Reveal synced audio in
Media Pool” from the contextual menu. The bin holding the synced audio clip is opened and that clip is selected.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!
