No audio after upgrade to v17.2.1

I just installed v17.2.1, and audio is not working.
I can open existing projects, and the audio shows on the clips, and the meters move in the Fairlight view.

Nothing comes out of my speakers.
System audio and audio from other applications are working normally.

Speakers are "Use System Setting".

What has changed that would mute all audio?

I found
on the issue.
His recommendation is to set the "Bus Outputs" in Fairlight.

Unfortunately that does not exist.

I verified the sub menu and all options are checked, and there is no option for Bus Output.

Tried to go with "Manual" for the settings. Still no audio:

What is "Stem Left/Right"? The drop downs offer "unassigned" as the only option.

Looking at the Patch Input output, there is nothing on the Destination side for Audio Outputs". Why?

(sorry not allowed to add another image).

I have been having the same issue. Audio 1 is playing in the videos, but I am unable to get Audio 2 to work in the videos. Been searching the web for the past day and a half trying to figure this out but have not been able to find anyone with the same issue. I will be keeping an eye on the forum to see if there is a fix for this issue.

I've found that on occasion using "Use System Audio" results in no sound output, Resolve doesn't seem to find or sync with the system audio.

Try setting it manually to the I/O you wan to use and see if it works.

Cheers,
Thor

Bus Ouptuts are only exposed with Flexi Bus Projects.
In Fixed Bus Projects the equivalent is the Main Busses.

This preference may be enabled prior to creating a new Timeline in a new Project:
Project Preferences > Fairlight > Audio Busing Mode

Tried to go with "Manual" for the settings. Still no audio
What is the audio device indicated when enabling a Manual speaker configuration?
The text box truncates the text - assuming built-in audio.

What is "Stem Left/Right"?
The Monitor Output list allows each leg of the source Buss to be routed to a physical output which is connected to the individual speakers in the configuration.

The drop downs offer "unassigned" as the only option
Which audio device is configured within Windows as the default WDM device?
Is built-in audio the configured device or rather external IO?

I have exactly the same Realtek audio. As you are in manual mode clicking on the un-assigned outputs will enable you to assign them. This is my working setup.

They need to be assigned for you to hear audio. If Unassigned is the only option, that means Resolve isn't seeing any audio hardware in the system. Some basic steps you might try are restarting Resolve. Restarting Windows. Updating your audio driver.

I got it working. I believe there is an issue with Resolve dealing with multiple audio interfaces in Windows.

The computer speakers are connected to "Speaker High Definition Audio Device"
I had two instances of "Digital Audio (S/PDIF)" and one PlayOn Virtual Audio Device.

With those devices present, Resolve offers no choices other than "Unassigned" Stem Output selection when "Speaker High Definition Audio Device" is manually selected as Device in Resolve.

Since nothing is connected to S/PDIF ports and I'm not using PlayON, I disabled them in Windows Settings.

Here's how it looks after disabling unused devices:

(Note - I disabled these devices with Resolve open, and when I accessed the settings in Resolve, it crashed. UI frozen, mouse circle, title bar "Not Responding" indefinitely - it had to be restarted).

When I restarted Resolve, I could select "Speaker High Definition Audio Device" under Device and 1:"Speaker High Definition Audio Device" and 2:"Speaker High Definition Audio Device" were then available below "unassigned". Once they were selected, audio worked again.

It is unclear if Resolve has a limit on the number of audio Devices allowed, or if it is somehow "broken" by having any unused audio Devices (even if they are not the one being used). Or maybe audio Devices with identical names?

To recap, when I manually selected the Device for my system audio interface, no choice other than "unassigned" was available under Stem/Output. Only after disabling some of the unused interfaces did did it become possible to assign my system audio speakers.
