Dissolve effect does not work with 12bit color depth

I finished my preliminary work on my project today and wanted to combine all clips with a simple cross dissolve effect. My input format is DNxHR 12bit. If I connect two clips in this format with an effect, I get an error rendering with the message "unknown error". If I reduce the output format to DXnHR 10bit, I can render my output without errors.
Is it possible that there is a software error here or am I doing something wrong?
