DR17 Multicam w. External audio source

PostThu Jun 10, 2021 12:33 pm

I'm sure this has been answered before, but after quite a bit of searching I just can't find an answer for what has to be a fairly common issue.

I have a fairly simple reality TV type show I am editing. Two cameras and an external audio source. Everything on Timecode. My preferred way of editing this would be having the two cameras as a multicam clip and the external audio replacing the scratch audio on both the cameras.

I've tried syncing all the cameras to the external audio, which worked fine, but when I create the multicam clip all I get is two audio tracks.

Is there a way for me to have multicam video with these 6 external audio channels showing up as 6 mono tracks? Or am I doomed to sync the audio manually to the multicam clip on the timeline?

No, that's just not how Multicam in Resolve works. So the approach I found most useful is to add the audio I want to use under the Multicam clip in the timeline and sync that up, then Disable the Multicam audio.

Make mixing in Fairlight a lot easier. ;)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
