Help needed Resolve 16.2.8 keeps crashing

PostFri Jun 11, 2021 9:35 am

Hey all,

Ever since I upgraded from win7 to win10 last year,
Resolve keeps crashing while doing simple tasks.

These are my specs:

CPU - Quad Core i5 4590 3.3Ghz S1150
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3 S1150
Memory - 16G (2x8GB) Transcend DDR3 1600Mhz
GPU - Gigabyte R9 270X 2G WindForce3 OC 1050Mhz

I don't care about buying new parts but I'm not sure if this the problem...

I've tried updating my drivers, reinstalling Resolve, and running MEMTEST.

After experiencing this issue for almost a year,
I feel like it's something with win10 and not Resolve
since I don't get any dialog messages before the crash

Here are my logs:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/17ag4HT ... sp=sharing

Thanks!

Does that mean you're not willing to, or that you don't object if that's the recommendation?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Bad phrasing haha.

If the problem is my specs I'm open to recommendations.
Do you think it's my specs?

Were that my system, I'd be hitting the money jar. ;)

Problem is, the only GPU's I'd consider buying (nVidia RTX 3000) are near impossible to come by for retail prices.

Thanks for the comment!

My main concern is I'd buy a new GPU and it would still crash lol

what other GPUs would be good for video editing?
Other than GPU, would you buy any other parts?

At the current situation of the market for GPUs, I’d rather get a Mac mini. Seriously.

An Intel CPU will be similar under Windows and the XT5700 is no slouch (but any GPU is faster internally).
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Studio 18.6.6, MacOS 13.6.6, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro

The RTX 2000 series from nVidia. But they're more expensive and don't perform as well as the 3000 series, so...there's that.

Pretty much everything. New 11th Gen Intel CPU and mobo/memory to match. Power supply if needed for the new parts.

Actually, I have davinci 17 and hope to use it for editing video for a new youtube channel.
But, it just won't open the control panel at all it says that it installed ok.
Yet when ever I click on the icon it shows the folder for projects then when I click open ...nothing?

I'm using the same laptop that both 16 & 17 worked on before just a few months ago.

Don't want to waste a lot of time for you but
do you have any suggestions based on my logs?
