Davinci Resolve Wont Open

I was using resolve than it crashed. I restarted my computer than came back and it worked. About an hour later resolve wouldnt open. I havent been able to get it to work since then. I have tried everything. I tried uninstall and reinstalling. In task master it pops up, says suspended, than pops up again, says suspended, than goes away for good. Pls Help

Please see the FAQs for things to report.. we dont even know which OS you are on let alone Resolve version, system config etc.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Resolve is not launching because your config.dat file is corrupt. And the config.dat.bak backup file is missing. And for good measure, the .config.data file is also corrupt.


Go to this folder:

C:\Users\riell\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat and .config.data files that are there.

Make a copy of the .config.data.bak file and call it .config.data

Unzip the attached file. It unzips into a config.dat file. Place the config.dat file in the folder above.

Also make a copy of the file and call it config.dat.bak in the folder above.

Resolve should start.
