What is the best way to edit 3 synced views in one video?

PostMon Jun 21, 2021 2:48 pm

Hello,

I create interview videos from internet calls. I usually have 3 videos: 1 video with host (with host audio only), 1 video with guest (with guest audio only) and 1 video with host's desktop (with full audio). These clips need to be all in sync, they are all recorded simultaneously (I use ATEM ISO).

What I do, I place these three videos on the top of each other in Davinci, I select them and use Clip -> Link clips. Then I place the two videos from cameras into the top right corner, desktop video is in background, I disable full audio from the desktop clip, I go through the whole video and cut out all the unnecessary pieces. Sometimes I only show 1 camera + desktop, sometimes only desktop, sometimes I show 1 camera on full screen. Plus I sometimes add some text or screenshots on the top of all this.

Problem is, sometimes the link between the three videos will break and then it is hard to trim all the three videos all at once e.g. sometimes only 1 video will trim and that causes problem with synchronization of all the three clips.

What do you think is the best way to edit this kind of video?

I attached a picture to illustrate what I do.

Thank you very much for your help,
- Robert
