New Mac Pro 2019 headed my way...

I exclusively work in Resolve, for editing and coloring.
I've been using it solely for about 4 years.

I've recently been doing a lot more coloring work and i bought a M1 Mac Mini, thinking it would suffice. But as i was adding NR and two FX, it was a slow crawl of a playback. I think i was asking the M1 to do a bit too much.

Anyway, I'm returning the M1 and purchased a second-hand Mac Pro 2019. As much as i want to A/B them, I won't have the time, but i already have some upgrades inbound.
End Specs would be:
24-Core CPU
96GB RAM
1TB + 4TB (in RAID 0) SSD drives
Two Radeon W5700X MPX Modules

I'm hoping this will last me at least 5-7 years, as I'm really getting steam and need the turnaround times to be minimum.

Doesn’t having a 1TB drive and a 4TB drive in raid 0 limit 5 total TB to 1? Or do you have 1, 4+4? Or is it possible to combine drives of unequal sizes in RAID 0?

RAID0 needs identical drives.

I know how RAID works, I just meant the second, 4TB SSD is in RAID.
No worries

We have the "mere" 16-core 2019 Mac Pro and it's been a champ. We have a whole bunch of external RAIDs as source drives, but we try to put our current project(s) on a G-Tech Shuttle SSD RAID, which will do 2000MB/s pretty easily. Also very quiet and has very little heat.

We find we still have to cache certain processor-intensive operations (like Neat Video and heavy OFX), but aside from that it's been fairly peppy.

Bought one last year and have been extremely happy with it so far. But we focus primarily on audio, for which it's overkill, but hopefully will last for many years.

Cheers,
Thor
