Davinci Resolve Says "Unsupported GPU Processing Mode"

PostFri Jun 25, 2021 2:45 am

So I have Fedora 33 Linux. And I downloaded DaVinci Resolve 17 a couple of weeks ago. When I opened it in my menu, and clicked on DaVinci Resolve (AS SHOWN BELOW), nothing happened at all. This happened for a week or so and during that time I surfed the internet on why this is happening. During that time, I think I downloaded and installed some things like a NVIDIA Driver? to see if it changed anything or if I needed a certain driver to allow it to open?

Then last week when I opened it, this came up.

I clicked on "Update Configuration", and this came up

I looked on the internet and on another topic in this forum to see how other people solved this and somewhere said to go to "Memory And GPU", go to "GPU Configuration", and uncheck "GPU Processing Mode", and open the dropbox and click on OpenCL. I did that but there were no options on the dropbox.

So I left it and clicked save and this error came up saying:

"Error"
"Please Add At Least One Media Storage Volume"

I have tried adding a directory. I made a folder inside Documents, inside Blackmagic Design, Inside DaVinci Resolve, called "Saved". And tried saving it to that folder but the same thing happened.

Please help.
Thanks

I think the very first piece of information that people are going to need from you is what GPU you have, and the version of the driver software is probably also germane.
DR Studio 18.6.4 Build 6, Win10Pro x64 22H2/19045.3570
Asus C246 Pro Motherboard, Xeon E-2278G@3.4GHz, 64GB ECC RAM
GeForce 3060 12GB, "Studio" driver 512.15
OS,Library: 1TB NVMe SSD - Project,Cache: 1TB NVMe SSD

The Memory and GPU tab would've been more helpful than the Media Storage. Can you correct?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Try using the distro we recommend
Make a folder on to a drive
Install GPU drivers

Thank you for your reply.
Could you please explain?

What distro do you recommend.
What do you mean by "Make a folder on to a drive"?
What GPU driver should I install?

Much appreciated

Disto details in the readme for the installer.
Your GPU is not suitable.. consider a NVIDIA RTX 2060

I searched the internet on how to install the driver you recommended, and came across this website
( https://tutorialforlinux.com/2020/09/03 ... ion-guide/ ).

First I enabled the Rpm Fusion Repository:

Then I Installed the RTX 2060 Fedora 33 Driver:

But when I typed the commands into terminal, the first one worked, but the second didn't.
sudo dnf in akmod-nvidia.png

Can anyone help?
