BR MIDI control surface transport controls don't work on E

Ok, got my Xtouch32 connected again, finally.

On Edit page transport controllers play / stop / FF / RW jog / shuttle don't work.
On Fairlight page they seem to work ok
On edit page if I play forwards or back, stop, the buttons on the Xtouch light up appropriately for that page. So its clear the edit page is sending MIDI transport responses, but not listening to them worked before.

This really brings up the entire problem : MCU implementation was at best 1/2 done in a most basic way and has never been put into good shape. How about some resources on getting MIDI control surface implementation into a usable rather than demo that it works state ? its been years like this,
