DaVinci Resolve works the same with Windows 11

Just in case you were wondering, DaVinci Resolve works in Windows 11 just as it did in Windows 10 (at least so far, in my limited testing).

Not that I recommend you run Windows 11 at this point in its life cycle but if you do want to live on the edge and were wondering, as I was. Now you know.

Sweet ! thnx for testing !!!

Does it crash often or is it relatively stable?

Given that it's still a bit unclear whether Windows 11 will run on TPM 1.2 machines (Microsoft says TPM 2.0 is required now), I hope BMD will continue to officially support Resolve on Windows 10 for many years.

I only just installed it today and have only been able to test for an hour or so. So it is too early to say but I have heard that it is very stable and I have not had any issues with it so far.

couldn't agree more!

talk about consumer society, etc., the idea that a three-year-old system won't run win 11 is obscene. let alone the vast nle user base (all nle's) who've invested many $k's in dedicated systems being forced to throw them out just because m$ has finally realised they have a problem with security...

and, from what i've read (so far), 11 is a more cosmetic job rather than ground up rewrite - for which i would expect new hardware requirements. of course, there is no urgent need to upgrade, but the pressure to do so will, i'm sure, raise its ugly head with the manufacturers prospects of selling many new boxes...

thankfully, my relatively old nle 4770k system still works as flawlessly as it did when i first installed resolve on it, so i can't see any reason for win 11...

Exactly, I have av 24-core Xeon workstation that I won't be upgrading anytime soon as it runs Resolve just fine. But it's TPM 1.2. Hopefully they will limit the requirement to new safety features only but Microsoft's communication on this has been horrible.

When I updated to Windows 11, I can't select old projects nor can I create new ones.
I'm basically stuck on the project manager screen.

I will try and reinstall resolve to see if that works.

It finally loaded a project only to instantly crash the program.

It looks like this at first, just clicking on a project

I try to open a project with right click instead

Many processes are open while this is going on

Loads the normal main program but instantly goes into not responding and ends in

Michael de Wal out of curiosity. Did you run DR17 successfully on the system you upgraded before the upgrade?

As Windows 10 is only supported until 14th October 2025 by Microsoft (unless you have a specific corporate license) I imagine that official Resolve support for 10 may end with a future release then too.

New features in potential future releases like Resolve 18 or 19 may require Windows 11 advancements after a certain point in the same way that the hardware support changes with each iteration too with the older hardware dropping off of the bottom each time??

Just my thoughts.

2025 for mainstream support. Extended support is another five years minimum.

yes no problems at all, I downgraded to windows 10 again and works perfectly.

I think it might have something to do with the firewall. On windows 10 i get prompted to allow programs through the firewall, but on windows 11 it never asks.

will have to look into that

I wish Resolve's Linux support was a little more "broad" -- encompassing the more popular distros such as Ubuntu and Mint for example. That'd open a *lot* of doors. The *ONLY* machine I have that runs Windows (rather than Linux) is the one used for Resolve and Fusion.
