1) BM "recommends" M1 owners use V17.2.x. Is that because this version's code has been compiled for both x86 and the M1?

2) In this case are the h264 and h265 codecs executed on the M1's GPU or the M1's NP?

3) V16.x can also run on the M1. Does it run under Rosetta 2?

4) If it runs under Rosetta 2, are the h264 and h265 codecs executed on the M1's GPU or the M1's NP?

Perhaps BM should answer these questions because over 200 have viewed and not answered.

1) yes
2) don’t know, most probably somewhere around gpu, can’t see useful link between h26.. decode and ml processor
3) not natively anyway, so must be rosetta
4) don’t know, see 2
