Hi there,

does anyone of you guys know what I should do with my MXF files?
they are not running smooth on the MacBook Pro with the M1 Chip.

I just saw a Video where it has been tested that it can run 12k RAW Files.

Do I need to convert mine before Using?

My Specs:

MacBook Pro 13"
M1 Chip
16 GB Ram
1TB SSD

Specs of the files & Timeline

Timeline: 3840x2160 25p
File: 4096x2160 50p XAVC Intra 422 Format: .mxf

It's possible that your disk is a bottleneck? My M1 mini does OK with 6K Redcode playing from the CFast card, but it struggles a bit when coming from a disk -- in ColourLab. Resolve's latest edition is handling Redcode pretty well on the same system.

the M1 silicon is optimized for H264/H265 (HEVC)
so you want to edit in a 1080 timeline

for all other codecs a powerfull GPU is necessary
it is different if you play a clip, or make a edit or any grading
and so on, the youtubers lies about the speed of the M1 ; -)
