Playback is slightly lower quality (fine when paused)

So playing back on the timeline is at a slightly lower quality, it resumes it's proper quality when I pause it, and it's also fine on exporting

Anyone know what setting might be causing this? it isn't a huge drop in quality, and there are no proxies, it seems to happen when I have 4k in a 1080 timeline, but like I said on export the problem vanishes

Thanks for any insight!

Performance mode is enabled probably.

It's not performance mode. But this is exactly what Timeline Proxy Mode does-- dynamically reduce resolution during playback only. It's kind of a poor name since can be confused with Proxies... but it's just a resolution reduction during playback, nothing to do with actual proxies.

Bottom of page 162 in the manual.

It was performance mode for me this time :)
So hidden away I'd never noticed it before
