HDR toolset via Advanced Panel

PostThu Jul 01, 2021 4:51 pm

Is there any way to switch to the HDR toolset via Advanced Panel (gen1 keycaps) or via keyboard shortcut? The new keycaps aren't in my future, but I'm wondering if there's a workaround to access that new tab with the old layout for now.

I think you have to get the new keycaps and then load the Advanced Panel 2 firmware in order to get access to the HDR displays and knobs. If you try to load the new firmware, most of the buttons and knobs you have now will be in the wrong place.

I know that $700+ for buttons and knobs seems like a high price, but to me it was worth it for the functionality. Be warned there is a learning curve because a lot of the buttons (I'd say most of them) have been moved and changed.

I can see that a lot of thought and logic went into the new layout, and once you get past the changes, it makes a lot of sense and there are some good ideas there. It's also a tremendous value, at least compared to spending another $29,000 for all-new panels.

All future panel dev work will be on the Advanced Panel 2 configs so the HDR along with 8 years of other menus improvements are all in the new keycap and panel control set.

The V2 panel upgrade is tremendous! So well thought out and well worth the $600 cost.

If a facility can’t upgrade because some colorists are not familiar with the new layout, perhaps they know the original layout well enough that even though the V2 keycaps have been installed, they can load the Original layout in the preferences and just know what each function is already.
