Resolve doesn't see files on ExFAT drive

Hi there

I'm having a strange problem. I'm using Resolve 17.2.1 on Mac OS 10.15.7, and I have my footage on an ExFat formatted drive connected via Thunderbolt. I'm in the Media Pool in Resolve, and it cannot see any files or folders on the drive, however all reads fine in Finder and other apps. Anyone else had this issue?

If you copy a file to the system drive, does Resolve see it?

Hello, guys.
I´m experiencing the exact same problem. Latest Davinci Resolve version and Big Sur updates.
And yes, when I move the file to the system drive I can read it.
But I have to import many files and I can't move all of them to my internal drive.
It's simple mono 24bits/48khz PCM wave audio files.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, guys,
after several attempts and tests, we realized that Davinci can't see the wave files because they were named with the same name of the folder that they´re inside. For example, the folder was named 210725_Day01_SEQ112_Audio and the files inside was 210725_Day01_SEQ112_Audio_Tr1
210725_Day01_SEQ112_Audio_Tr2
and so on...
So we have to move all the files outside the folders. It's not the ideal solution, but works.
I hope BM can solve this problem in future updates.
Thanks in advance

Then you need a larger Media drive.

A good Rule of Thumb is to always copy the entire media card to your internal working drive, and leave it's contents alone.

C'mon, Jim, we have dozens of students carrying their media on external drives, logging into the next workstation and happily working along without copying.

What should definitely be on an internal drive is the database and cache.

And a disk database will not work at all on an exFAT drive.

Same issue here on Davinci Resolve 18.1.1
The files added to the bin from the ExFAT disk are marked as Offline Media.
When they are copied to the NTFS or HFS+ disk, files are recognized and played well

I have no issues with source files on an exFat portable SSD used to go between my PC and the Studio Max all the time. Folder names are the cameras used so in my case GH5S, GH6 and AX100 as sub folders inside the folder for name of show. Project is on the Studio Max drive with export copy on SSD for the PC to use. Both PC and Studio Max are right up to date with OS.
