Audio disappears in 17 (beta)

PostTue Jul 06, 2021 7:37 am

Hi Im still running the Beta 17.0B Build 18, wich have been super stable for me so I have not wanted to update it yet. But for some reason I today started to lose the audio in davinci. I have to restart davinci to get it back working.

Is there a trick to solve this issue. Or do I have to update davinci. I know davinci is out of beta, but there seams to be some issues with it still. And my beta version have been rock solid for months ( until now).

Changing the volume of a clip or erasing an audio clip makes the audio disappear in DaVinci, even in other timelines in that project. I can switch to another project and back and get the audio to work without restarting the program thoe...

System spec? viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190

Which page is this behaviour present on? Edit or Fairlight?

I would seriously consider upgrading to 17.2.2 as there have been significant improvements since the beta builds of version 17.

Its the same in Fairlight. But Im working right now in the editing tab. I got this problem a few times yesterday, but today it has just been to the point I cant work. The audio meters is moving, but not audio.

I have a super micro server workstation with dual cpu and gtx 1080Ti graphic card in it with 11gb, 64b ram. Im running windows 10 professional. All footage on a fast server connected using 10gbe. Focusrite scarlett 2i2 2nd gen for audio...

Normally I work with 8k red footage but on this project its the Panasonic S1H, and audio from sound devices mixpre6. There is of course also some sfx audio and music.

Im a little afraid to upgrade to the latest version, since I read some experienced lagginess. I play back 8k at full resolution with no problem (not with noise reduction with current graphic card). I had almost zero problems with the beta prior to this.

Seams like only one of the timelines in the project gets this problem. I pretty sure its some of the audio effects clips that I have ben handed to me that is the problem. But no prof yet. I try to work on while disable those clips now.

I found one mp3 audio clip that was handed to me that is mighty suspicious. I cant delete it...or it take for ever to delete it. Never seen anything like it. It just crashed Davinci while trying to delete it.

It's generally a good idea to convert all audio to Wav or Aiff before importing it into Resolve. MP3/AAC and other compressed/lossy formats don't always work that well.
