Hi,
I'm new to this forum and hope that someone can help me.
I'm using the free version of DaVinci Resolve 17 and tried to install the free sound library. Unfortunately that didn't work out. The installation process is normal and ends with the typical "installation completed successfully" message...but when I open DaVinci Resolve the library does not appear anywhere. When I search for the library on my mac I find it in the "movies" folder - right there where the DaVinci Resolve folder is located.
I already searched the forum for a solution and found this post by janpieterse:
I tried to follow this instruction but I'm stuck with steps 2 and 3.
Can somebody help me with the installation of the sound library?
Thanks and greetings,
Thorsten

I know you found a coincidental fix, but I am posting this here in case somebody else runs into this same issue.
The root cause of this issue seems to be an unreported folder access error.
After the installation,
a zip file "FairlightSoundLibrary.zip"
as well as a bash file "install_fairlight_sound_library.sh"
was copied to: "/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Prereqs"
in the contents of the bash file you can see that it has the instructions to copy and unzip the sound library.
running it manually, you are likely to see the folder access error.
this bash file also creates a config file: .soundlibrary
at location: "/Users/???/Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve"
this file will contain the folder location to where the sound library is unzipped.
The solution:
1. manually unzip the sound library file to anywhere you want
2. manually create the file "/Users/???/Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/.soundlibrary"
3. edit the .soundlibrary file and add the folder path of the unzipped sound library as the first and only line in the file
4. restart Davinci Resolve
I tried to follow this instruction but I'm stuck with steps 2 and 3.
Can somebody help me with the installation of the sound library?
Thanks and greetings,
Thorsten
