Can you export short clips to AAF, not whole timeline?

I am trying to export AAF audio of individual scenes from a full movie on my timeline. I have no issue exporting a quicktime scene, but when I try to export AAF audio from a scene, it switches to an orange bar on top, ignoring my in and out points and exports the whole movie audio. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
