SE Fails on Update

I'm also plugged in through USB, it hangs terribly when opening the control panel often having to end its task which wont happen unless I unplug the SE from my computer.
Sometimes it will see the SE in the control panel and when I go to update it, it always fails.
Any ideas?
UPDATE -
- I was able to update the firmware through my laptop. It cant run resolve, its too old but it can still run the control panel update program.
I didn't mention before but I was also having tons of issues with resolve not wanting to connect to the SE. Ill try it with the new firmware and report back if it helped with USB connection issues
