macro for scale/zoom transform

PostSat Jul 10, 2021 3:28 pm

I often have a timeline with anamorphic DCI 4k and anamorphic 2.6k. The 2.6k clips need to be scaled up with the value 1,07. Until now I have to do this manually for every 2.6k clip.

How can this be automated? Macros, Lua scripts? I never used scripting in Resolve, I don’t even know where to look in the manual.

I don't know how to do this in a script, but you can manually scale 1 of the clips and then select all other clips and select copy attributes to copy the scale to the other clips as well. It's still manual, but it shouldn't take more than about one or two minutes to do it.

Will the Input Scaling options in Project Settings not do the trick?

thanks for the replies.

Input scaling in Project settings would affect all clips I guess. I need to scale some clips, not all.

Copy attributes is a good idea. I guess this is independent from color nodes, and even then it is something I do right at the beginning anyway.

Thanks again, this looks like a good solution.

You can control scaling per clip from the inspector, Check the "Retime and Scaling" section.

That depends on:

1. The setting you choose
2. The resolution of the clip
3. The resolution of the timeline

When in the Media Page, select all the clips you wish to modify, go to Inspector and change the Scaling setting under the Retime and Scaling section. Don't change the Project setting! Doing this will scale the clips according to the setting chosen and will allow clips with differing sizes to be scaled without black bars on edges. If you need to do other adjustments as well as a simple scaling, apply the required changes and copy/paste to the other clips.
