From Premiere to Resolve

Hi Folks!

Brand new to the forum, but a long-time user/owner of some 12 or so Decklink products.

We have often thought about making the switch from Adobe over to DaVinci but have several concerns with a couple of files types that we work with.

First, one of our field cameras is a Canon. We have tried to import the file into the free version of Resolve but only audio shows up in the media bin. Some research reveals that this is the case when you are using the "free" version and with the paid version of Resolve you are able to import the Canon media without a problem.

Is this true or false?

Second, one of our major networks we supply programming to is still only excepting Sony XDCAM HD422 720p files.

Is Resolve able to encode this file format?

We appreciate any help or suggestions.

The clips should work in Studio. You can post a short sample for Studio owners to confirm.

XDCAM is an export option, but in my brief test, it looks to be locked at 1080. If you need 720, you might have to export a Master like DNx or ProRes for conversion outside of Resolve.

While we might be able to export in a different flavor of 720p we still need to deliver it to one of our networks as a specific XDCAM 422 720p file.

Like I said, you might need to use something else to achieve that. Doesn't look like Resolve can do it natively.
