[Solved] Migrating databases from Resolve to Studio?

PostTue Jul 13, 2021 8:43 pm

I want to buy the Studio License.

I downloaded the Studio Version (I will buy the Dongle in few days)
But when I try to install it, Windows says I have to uninstall the previous version.
It means that it will destroy the database with all my templates.

Is there a way to migrate the Resolve Database to Studio without loosing my works please?
I mean just making the backup of the database and importing it should be sufficient?

If you use the free version from the BMD web site, the upgrade should be painless.

That said, with the free version installed, back up the database. then restore it and name it the same name but with some indication its the backup.

then restore the backup.. make sure it has your projects.

now when you install the Studio version, only upgrade the restored backup,, not the original which you can keep forever un touched.

When you make a backup - any backup - it's always good practice to reimport your backup immediately after and verify that the backup process didnt mess up.

Once you know the backup is fine, you can secure the backup file away, clear the test reimport, and start the upgrade.

Yes I installed the free version from BMD site.
Although now I downloaded the Studio, when I try to install it returns I have to uninstall the previous version first.
So, I exported the database.

Now I go to uninstall the Resolve and update to Studio

P.S. tomorrow I will receive the Dongle
