I have shot over 4000 frames of timelapse imagery in Canon raw (CR2) format. I am trying to create a sequence in Resolve. However when importing my frames (sequentially numbered) it is leaving gaps. This is not an issue of the ordering in the bin - the frames have just not been imported - see grab. It is creating a sequence, just with big jumps. All the missing frames are available to import.

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but I regularly deal with large time lapse sequences from 43mpxl Sony A7R2 cameras. My workflow is to bring the raw images into Capture One Pro, do minimal grading there and then export the whole sequence as Photoshop 16-bit files. Unfortunately, this means that there may be some loss of color information, in that they end up Adobe RGB, or sRGB. When a large sequence is brought into Resolve, it often ends up being broken up into two or three sections by Resolve, however I've never had any missing frames.

Good luck, doing time lapse with high resolution stills can definitely present challenges.

I have now found a different way of importing into Resolve and it brings in as one video clip rather than a bunch of frames. It seems to have worked.

If the files are numbered sequentially, Resolve gives you the option to either import them as a single clip or individual frames. The option is under the three dots menu.

If the numeric sequence is broken (e.g. if you delete one image in the middle of the sequence) Resolve will see two separate sequences.

The upshot is that you can re-sequence, split, join, etc just by changing filenames. If you have to change a lot of filenames, scripting helps. AppleScript and Automator are easy if you’re on Mac, but bash/zsh, Python, etc work fine, too.

Unfortunately, it would seem that with a lot of large file size high resolution images, Resolve can have a mind of its own. I run into this frequently with it breaking up perfectly numbered sequences. It's not a major issue for me, as I immediately transcode the sequences anyway to a more timeline friendly 8K codec which recombines them prior to grading.
