OK, stumbled upon a solution for this - requires some command-line comfort:
1. quit DaVinci Resolve
2. Install WSL (Windows services for Linux), Ubuntu and Windows Terminal so that you have a functioning Linux cmd-line in Windows (search for Microsoft instructions on how to do that) - or get access to a real Linux OS
3. Install sqlite in WSL: sudo apt install sqlite
4. Take a copy of the Project.db from your broken project in the DRS "database", into a temp folder
5. In that temp folder, from WSL prompt: sqlite3 Project.db
(be sure to use "sqlite3" and not just sqlite (which defaults to v2))
6. .databases
Error: database disk image is malformed
7. .clone new.db
(works anyway!?)
8. .exit
9. Then delete your copy of Project.db, and rename new.db to Project.db
10. copy this Project.db over the original in your broken project folder in the DRS "database",
11. Start DRS and you should see your project in the Project Manager screen again - open and enjoy
I don't know why sqlite3 is able to clone the DB when it says the file is malformed - but hey, I'm so glad it worked.
Hope it helps anyone else who's hit this situation.
Cheers, Richard
