upgrading to studio with edited film?

PostThu Jul 22, 2021 5:11 pm

Has anyone had any issues upgrading to studio with a project edited with the free version of Resolve 16.2.6? I am almost finished editing a full feature and am having issues exporting AAF files for my sound guy. I was told through a Davinci customer service rep that upgrading would fix those issues. I don't have any FX yet, just some stabilized clips and speed changes on clips, mainly standard cuts and with temp sound. I just purchased a license but wanted to check in here for advice before I upgrade.

Thanks

I'd suggest making a backup/duplicate of the project you're working on for safe keeping and open that duplicate in Studio. Should issues arise, you can always go back to Free and open your original file again.

I would also suggest that you stick with the Studio version of 16.2.6 until your current project is finished because going to any version 17 requires a Database upgrade which is not backwards compatible. You would have to export a copy of your current Database before upgrading so that you can go back if you need to.

Ok thanks, I have held back from installing 17. Hoping I can get all of the AAF files to export and added vfx in 16. I've had some issues, but trying to work them out.
