What's the number?

PostThu Jul 22, 2021 7:00 pm

Hi guys,

So while exporting a video I noticed right at the top next to the Window Zoom down-drop there is a number that changes about once each second. What's this changing number? There is no information next to the number to indicate what it is. Frames processed per second maybe?

If you are referring to the one arrowed in the pic, that is the render speed in frames per second. It will tend to vary as the render progresses.
In this illustration the maximum render speed has been set at 100 in the File dropdown menu.

Hi guys
I was having a problem where my render speed was stuck at 10 and I thought going to the Studio version would save me but... no luck.

I followed your advice and set the render speeds at assorted speeds and, while it will go slower, it will not go faster than 10fps. When it starts rendering it jumps a bit, then settles in to exactly 10fps.

The Studio version does seem to be using 20% of the available GPU, where the free version did not. Odd that it doesn't change the speed.

I am using an I7, 3.4ghz CPU, 32gb mem, GTX 660 with 2GB so Cuda isn't an option for me. Any thoughts or suggestions? I am making 8 hour videos so 10fps is kinda a deal breaker for me.

The GTX 660 really isn't up to the job as you can't use CUDA with it in Resolve 17.xx. Are your clips on a separate drive to the one you are rendering to, and are you using SSDs?

Hi Charles,

I hated the advice but took it anyway :D I wanted to let you know I appreciate it! I put together a much faster computer with a Maximus XIII MB and a 11900k CPU and 3060ti GPU and all the sudden... DaVinci flys. "Guys Playing With Tools" can do whatever it wants for videos now!
