Media offline while importing media

PostFri Jul 23, 2021 3:11 am

Scenario: I have bunch of footage shot using Sony A7S III, I've used a combination of formats to shoot these videos. I've just created and a new project in DaVinci Resolve and I am trying to import this footage.

Problem statement: After importing the files, few clips show as Media Offline in the Media Pool. All my footage is on the same hard disk, but few files show proper and few show as Media Offline.

What I've found is that files with codec - H.264 High 4:2:2 L5.1 are the ones showing as Media Offline.

All other files shot using the other codec - H.265 Main 4:2:2 10 L5.1 are working as expected.

Any comments on what could be causing this?

For the offline clips, you are likely to need the Studio version for that format to be decoded.
you can post a link to a sample and someone can check for you.

The clip works fine in Studio 17.2.2 for Windows.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi,

I am running Studio ver 17, Windows 10.
H.264 High 4:2:2 L5.1 clips are not showing up in Resolve media preview at all. Do I need to download the codec ? Or Resolve Windows version doesn't support yet.

Can you share a small clip for testing, Alfred?

Hi Jim,
The project is on going , maybe after it's done I'll post a clip here. For now we have to transcode to 444 for grading in Windows. Thank you.

I had a similar problem with my Sony Cam footage which was also H.264 5.1 etc... Here's how I fixed it and some discussion on why it might be happening: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=144470 - hope this helps
