DV17 Multicam won’t playback

Hey everybody !

Very quickly : when I have a multicam timeline and when I choose Multicam from the Source Viewer, I can't playback anymore... Not even a frame.

Detailed :
DV studio 17.2
Windows 10. Geforce 2070. 32GB memory. I7-9750H. 2 SSD Nvme.
Footage :a7s3 Xavc h264 UHD
Proxies : DNxHR Lb HD

So, I synced 2 cams. Generated proxies.
Created a new timeline from Multicam Clip.
I open this timeline in edit page. I can playback.
THen I choose Multicam from the source viewer (to watch my 2 cams and to edit) and... no playback anymore.


I tried to :
close DV and restart. Close the computer and restart. Update DV to 17.2.2. With other footage. With proxies, without proxies, with and without timeline proxy mode, in a new project, with and without cache render... (I even tried to disconnect the speed editor)

When I opened the multicam clip as a source in the source viewer, I can playback the 2 cam. It is not about my computer's configuration...

Any ideas ?

Instead of Proxies, try using Optimized Media, Cineform at 1/4 resolution.

Keep Timeline Proxy Mode off.

and I just found that if I have a normal, classic timeline with just one clip, if I choose Multicam from the source viewer, I can't playback anymore....

can u make a project archive of that one clip timeline.. with a short clip, and post it with a phone video of what not playing on the edit page.. somethings amiss.

put them on dropbox or the like and put a link here

I already tried with a friend. It works on his computer.
So it is a problem from my hardware.
But we really don't know what...

Next week, I will try to reinstall windows fully.

I have Windows 10 home. I don't know if it could cause this issue.

Everything worked before with DV 15 or 16 (free version).

My Nvidia Studio drivers are updated (as all other drivers).

I have no idea...

If you do go down the Clean Install path, keep something in mind.

Ideally, an edit system should be dedicated to editing. No games, email, office, development, security or other such extraneous software should be installed on an edit system. For the best chance of success in this work, do those things on another machine.

I am having the same problem with the Multicam timeline not being able to playback. Actually, it plays for a fraction of a second when I hit the play button then it stops.

Any idea and/or have the issue been ID and fixed?

Blackmagic Resolve 17 Multicam Edit Tutorial includes the footage files.
Windows 10 Pro Latest build
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900x
GPU: Nvidia 2070 Super
Drives: NVME SAMSUNG (MZ-V7E1T0BW) 970 EVO SSD 1TB
RAM: 32GB

My problem was solved with a clean install and an update of all Intel drivers.

Did you check all your drivers, system, bios... are up to date ?

Thank you. Yes, my R17 is all clean installed and the rest of the system is up-to-date.

What is your motherboard and what version of BIOS before and after?

It is a laptop. The XMG Fusion 15.
The motherbord is "Intel Corporation / Modèle LAPQC71B/ Version K54900-303"

and the bios 0142

Probably too weak for multicam.

@UliPlank, read all the posts before answering...

Does it have a discrete GPU? I don't see that in all of your posts.

For me, I wrote it has a RTX2070.
And after I updated the bios, everything work fine.

And the wyenphoto's one has alos a Nvidia RTX2070.
