I've just spent more hours than I can tolerate trying to sort out some audio I had recorded for a new project.
I had echo and distortion.
I then tried one track in an earlier project and it was fine.
I have 'solved' my problem by copying the good project to a new name, removing all the files and timelines and inserting my audio. All is fine.
Can someone suggest what I have done incorrectly in my Project Preferences. I see very little about audio but I clearly have changed something.
Another solution would be to see if I can make my decently working project into the default setting project - but that is a cheat and I'd rather find out what setting is wrong.
I can't think of any Project Settings that would cause echo and distortion on audio clips played from the Media page. Only way I can think to get there is with effects applied to the clip or track in a timeline.
My Biases:
You NEED training. You NEED a desktop. You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
You can save your good project settings as a new default by going to Project Settings > Presets. Right click "Current Project" and select "Save As User Default Config".
If you're not ready to overwrite the default, just save it as a new Preset. Then you can load that preset after creating a new project.
In creating a new Project to send you I found that the problem comes from the connection between my two bluetooth headsets and Resolve on the PC.
I found the new Project sounded fine on the Jabra USB speaker and not at all on the bluetooth headsets. However the headsets did connect with YouTube on the PC.
For some reason I tried running Resolve through the Jabra USB and then trying to use a bluetooth headset - and it worked, even when the Jabra was disconnected. It seems the bluetooth (I have a dongle) on my PC needs something extra to trigger the good connection such as a brief signal via USB.
I cannot imagine even a techie whiz like you knows what is happening. In reality it does not matter much now as I have a work around.
Oh the joys of IT.
But thanks for your interest.
Tony
I have used two different bluetooth headsets and also my Jabra USB speaker/mike device.
No. Restarting Resolve made no difference - or even uninstalling and re-installing the newest version.
Before creating a new Default why don't I create another new project and send you whatever log you need to inspect it. What would you like me to send?
