Fairlight 5.1 Mapping - Manual misleading?

PostFri Jul 30, 2021 12:25 am

Maybe my brain is not working correctly but am I the only one who noticed the contradiction in the naming convention of the 5.1 mapping and the manual? I feel like 5.1 SMPTE and 5.1 Film is switched around.

The manual is correct.

SMPTE channel order follows ITU-R BS.775 and EBU R-123 Track Allocation guidelines.

Yes, the first screenshot seems to list the correct order. The second one though claims a different order, quote: "SMPTE specifies L, C, R, Ls, Rs, LFE" which is the order of 5.1. film.

The second screen shot (text description) does indeed sound backwards. The first one is correct, as Reynaid pointed out.

The chart is correct however as pointed out the text box is not right. Thanks for the heads up! This will be addressed.
