Failed to encode the video frame simple single image 30 secs

PostSat Jul 31, 2021 3:03 pm

Hi,
My first video creation, and it says FAILED ..Failed to encode the video frame

It is a single photo, as a .png placed in timeline, properties 30 secs duration. B/W image 1920 x 1080
.png made in photoshop.
Plays on screen in DVR16 ok,

selected .mp4. H264codec, network optimization left as unticked, res 1920 x 1080 HD
frame rate 24
qlty auto best
frame reordering ticked
pixels square
data level auto

all settings not fiddled with in fact. as they came.

and these were all settings as per a youtube quick talk through, it went to the right for render, I ran that and...failed.

try again, fail.

timeline says render entire timeline

try again setting timeline in out points

still fails.

What am I doing wrong ?

OS win 7 64 bit pro, DVR16 works with win7 64. or so I am informed. though it wont open .mpg or a .tiff, known failings of DVR as a prog.

Hi,
(link removed.. by moderator)
says windows,

I search heavily for anything about OS and every article and post is all about hardware, everyone focused purely on hardware.
Should be a page stating OS for Resolve.

That aside I did find eventually mention of Win7 being ok, so then got V16.
I was told by Blackmagic win7 yes it runs but no support of a problem on function.
I can ask how do I do this or that, but if it puts out smoke and fails then blame the OS.

As such I find out this time its Resolve at fault and not the OS.

Are you saying for sure it is a known fact that Resolve V16 will not run on Win 7 64bit pro ?
...as mine runs, and it created eventually a video by replacing the image with a jpg one. Resolve doesnt work with .tiff or .png is the reason. Tiff said Media Offline, yet had just browsed to it, so it cant be, again found out it was that it was .tif, a .jpg worked.

Its Resolve ! designed to reject .tif .png other users found same.

There should be a page stating software as well as hardware requirements for Resolve, even the download page doesnt say. Anything called system requirements doesnt state OS's. all v wrong.

For both downloads and referencing minimum requirements on each version, please use the official Blackmagic Design support page.

In your case the reference should be this readme.

Older versions can still be found on the support page by scrolling down.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Hi,
I am with v16.0.0.060 all V16 versions seem to be min spec win10. Dont install it if u r win8.

I only ran v16.0.0.060 as I had been told it would run, but dont go asking about crashes etc if it didnt.

As the problems so far are non support for .tif and .mpg and .png and others also saying so, I didnt think the OS was at fault.

Truly is it all due to the OS ?

I will have to rip v16 off the PC which I hate doing as bits get left behind with some progs, and try for v15 if so.
But no, V15 is win10, v14 is win 10 and that's sept 2017.
V12 is win 8.
I have found V 11.3.1 15 may 2015 is win 7, well before win 7 ceased support by Msoft.
Thats a considerable version drop from v16. The thing is V16 runs and functions, and failure with .tif, .mpg .png are experienced by win 10 users.

would they work in v 11.3.1 ?

How clean an uninstall does it do, and what happens with the projects I have already got as Work In Progress ?

Is media Offline on file types that should work, .mp4 , the big problem well and truly due to the OS ?
