Disable edit tab i/o points (permanently+ hotkey)

I don't use the edit tab i/o points and it interferes with my edit style, and presumably many others coming from PPRO. Is there a way to have the selection be cleared or disabled permanently? somehow it just gets selected in some way

You can clear them with Alt+x.

I'm not aware of any way to disable the ability to set In and Out points, though. Closest you might come is deleting those shortcuts. (If you can.)

Can you clarify what you mean by i/o points? I'm coming from Premiere, and they're pretty bog standard over there, considering how critical they are to making so many edits.
