Can we expect digital licenses soon to replace dongle?

PostThu Aug 05, 2021 9:22 am

Hi Guys

Dealing with resellers and trying to get a dongle is a major mission. Are there any plans to get either online licenses or some other type of digital license that does not require a dongle?

I am confused. There is already a digital (Online-) activation. You don't need a dongle anymore.

As Dieter says, there already is an online activation available. You have a choice, dongle or activation code.
If you purchase the online activation you will be sent a card with the code on it. This code allows two computers to be activated at the same time. If you want to activate a third it will automatically deactivate one of the others, and so on.
Do make sure you keep the activation card in a safe place and note down separately the code. If you need to activate Resolve again and have lost the code you are looking at having to purchase it again. Blackmagic do not keep a log of code purchasers.

And some resellers will send you the key code before the card is reaching you.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Don't forget that the dongle allows you to run Fusion Studio 17 as well as Resolve Studio 17 whereas (correct me if I am mistaken) the digital activation only allows for Resolve Studio 17.

Since version 17 the activation key works for Fusion Studio as well.

Brilliant! That's good to know, thanks. I still prefer a dongle myself but maybe that's because I'm resistant to change, lol.
