Downloads failing

PostMon Aug 09, 2021 10:11 pm

Is anyone else having problems downloading updates from the official site?

I'm trying to download Resolve Studio 17.2.2 and Fusion Studio update. They download and fail at the end.

Any ideas...??

Just tested with Firefox. Worked fine.

Now I've downloaded it, it won't open.
Uninstalled
Re-installed
Still won't open.

Might this be because the spec of the machine is inadequate?

Yes, it meets minimum specs.

Looking on the Fusion Forum, it is a well known current issue.

Thanks for your wisdom.

I too am receiving error messages when trying to download updates. It's happened before. For me now it's a 17.3.1 alert.

Upon being alerted that an update is available, a click on a link results in
'Something went wrong!
'We were unable to load the download the link for the latest version.
'Download the latest version from the Blackmagic Design support website.'

There is a website for that?
When I go to the support page [sic] I'm presented with the original form to fill in as though I'm a first-time beginner.

The About control shows me I'm using version 17.3 Build 14. Somewhat inconsistent in nomenclature.
Could there not be an update available, or, if there is, is there a better numbering system that complies with the x.x.x system that Resolve itself uses?

I'm running as an admin for the update, though I first received the failure message as a user.

Has DaVinci Resolve stalled?

Once again, DaV Resolve is refusing to download from the in-program 'Update' prompt.

Upon being alerted that an update is available, a click on a link results in
'Something went wrong!
'We were unable to load the download the link for the latest version.
'Download the latest version from the Blackmagic Design support website.'

Is there some inbuilt inhibition that the download function dislikes?
This has happened many times since my last report. I thought it worthwhile to say that it's still going on.

Anyone know of a reason why the update download won't work?

Id Firefox your Default Browser? Such that Windows will open all HTML links in Firefox?

Only Windows' own Defender.
I can't imagine that BMD or DaVResolve are seen as malware.

Yes, Jim, Firefox is my default.
Maintaining species diversification.

Yes, it will open all HTML links, as far as I understand your question.
Edge Redirector is installed, but that's external to scope, I imagine.

The only way to test configurations is to uninstall Resolve and re-install the previous version, and try again.
Unless there's a known link to the Update prompt.
Or wait until the next update arrives.

You might want to try without the redirector plugin next time.
I bet it’s the cause to this.

The redirector is just between Edge and a chosen default browser, all because of Edge's nuisance insertion of itself into unrelated activities. Edge background-preloading is disabled in the registry, too. I wouldn't think that Firefox, Edge and Resolve's internal link would relate in any way - but I'll try it without Redirector installed, next time.
Shall report success or failure.

It would be incredible to think that Resolve is hardwired to Edge...

The things I can think of would be related to your browser, local fw/filter or blocking script on your machine or to a dns lookup that fails. Misconfiguration or something like it.

Perhaps change your machine to use an external dns server in case it uses one default from the internal network or router.
